'Destiny 2' Malfeasance Quest GuideHow to Get the Exotic by Playing Gambit

Destiny 2 's latest Weekly Reset brought some new Exotic Quests to the game, and one of them involves the highly-sought after Malfeasance. In this short guide, we'll recap the steps required to get the Hand Cannon and offer a few tips to help you succeed.

How To Start the Malfeasance Quest in 'Destiny 2'

One of the most difficult things about Destiny 2's Malfeasance quest is actually getting it to start. As Gambit players will know, there are four Primeval bosses triggered by cashing in 75 Motes in a single round. In order to start the Malfeasance quest, you must spawn a special tentacle-focused boss similar to Riven. Unfortunately the beast spawns randomly, so your fireteam may have to play lots of rounds before encountering one.

Once it does spawn, you'll likely be required to kill it before the other team finishes it off. There are some reports that the drop occasionally goes to the entire lobby regardless. Watch out for the Taken ball which temporarily makes him immune. Kill this first and your foe will fall. Assuming you can do that, anyone involved in the kill gets a rare Seething Heart drop. This starts the Malfeasance quest. Take your reward to the Drifter to move on to step 2.

Next Steps

2) City of Secrets - Get 25 Taken Mini Boss or Boss Kills : Yellow bars do not count for this, but Plagues and Servants of the Well do. An "enemies are moving against each other" event is a good way to accomplish this in one round, but you can also do some grinding at Chamber of Starlight or Aphelion's Rest too. It's just going to take a bit longer.

3) Darkness in the Light - Complete the Mission Variant of the Corrupted Strike : This is a Dreaming City quest with a recommended Power Level of 580. In other words, you'll have to be a top-tier Guardian with a skilled team. You can bring six people in, though, which should make things a bit easier. Everyone should probably be higher than 560 to give it a solid effort. Beyond that there are lore spoilers, so we'll leave the specifics of the quest to you. Finish the mission to get a Depleted Weapon Core and take it to the Drifter.

4) Business As Usual - Win 10 Gambit Matches : In addition to winning you'll need to deposit 500 Motes of Dark. In other words, you don't want to die and end up dropping Motes. Bank frequently and do all you can to win. If you do, the quest will transition to the final step, called Lights Out.

5) Lights Out - Get 25 Kills Against Enemy Guardians in Any Way, Get Four Kills During One Invasion : Kills will still count for you as long as you shoot an enemy once. So, you might be best off spawn camping if you're really frustrated with the questline by now. The Invasion step can also be completed if Fireteam members get the four kills for you, but this means it has to be done three times instead of once. After that's finished, go to the Drifter with your Dark Weapon Core and get Malfeasance.
