Harry Styles certainly wasn't going to waste a night off in Los Angeles on Wednesday, during a brief break from One Direction's Where We Are tour.

The hitmaker made a beeline for the downtown Ace Hotel for an exclusive Coldplay gig, with Nickelodeon actress Daniella Monet on his arm.

The 20-year-old unsurprisingly dressed casually for the occasion, before attempting to fall under the radar as he left.

After opting for towering heels, the 25-year-old brunette failed to keep up with the British star who had teamed a white Tee with dark skinny jeans.

While Daniella, who has previously appeared in sitcom Victorious, wore a thigh-skimming white dress with loose curls, Harry polished off his attire with suede boots.

The tattooed star opted to keep his trademark curls tied back in a knot, after tweeting his 22 million followers to say: 'I feel like some ashes rising in Phoenix?'.

Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin sang some of the group's biggest hits at the event presented by CBS Radio and Beats Music.

One Direction's tour will next take them to Texas for a performance on Friday, before heading to Oklahoma.

The US leg, which will see them supported by 5 Seconds To Summer, will finish in Miami on October 5.

After completing the European leg of their jaunt - the fivesome, also consisting of Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, started the latest stint last month.

One Direction will no doubt continue making pop history with the release of their fourth album, simply named FOUR, which is due for release on November 17.

The stars, who were put together by Simon Cowell on The X Factor in 2010, are determined to make this their most personal record to date, so their loyal followers can expect a closer insight into their personal lives.

The record is no doubt set to fly off the shelves since their last effort Midnight Memories made them the first band in history to debut at the top of the US Billboard chart with their first three albums.
