Samantha Mumba reveals her father has passed away, aged 66

Singer Samantha Mumba paid tribute to her father following his death at the age of 66. 

Irish-born Samantha, 37, who lives in Los Angeles, revealed her father Peter died last month. The cause of death is not known.  

She shared a series of images of her father along with a moving caption praising him as an 'intelligent', 'shy' and 'funny' man.

The Irish singer wrote a lengthy tribute, revealing that she was hesitant about sharing her immeasurable loss. Pictured: Samantha's father Peter, 66

She added: 'I am forever grateful to have your DNA in my veins. Until we meet again, Dad, on the other side of the stars.'

The photos show Samantha with her father as a young girl and dancing with him on her wedding day in 2012.

Samantha turned off comments on the emotional post but fans have showed their support by 'liking' and commenting on other posts. 

One person wrote: 'So sorry for your loss. RIP Peter. Thinking of you all x.' Another added: 'So sorry for your loss.'

Samantha has spoken previously about how she chose not to speak to her father 'for a long time' following her parents' separation when she was 16.  

'I definitely did choose for a long time not to speak to him or see him and that was my choice and I needed that,' she said, according to the Sun. 'If I had to go back again, I'd do the same thing.'

However the pair later reunited and Peter spent Christmas in Los Angeles with Samantha and her family.
